Who is Stephanie (Ochoa) McDaniel

Stephanie is the CEO and founder of My Compliance Alliance, LLC.  The company is based off of beautiful Lake Coeur D’Alene in Idaho.

Stephanie has extensive experience in the mortgage industry. She started in licensing for a national retail lender just shy of 30 years ago.  Mortgage compliance was the next step in her career which included all things such as policies and procedures creation and maintenance, legislative analysis and legislative summaries, advocacy on the state and Federal levels, state and agency examinations, regulatory compliance, consumer complaints and then some!

  • Advocacy: She is a former Chair of the Mortgage Bankers Association’s Legislative and Regulatory Committee. She is also the past President of the Nevada Financial Services Association.
  • Licensing: She began her career in the mortgage licensing industry as a Licensing Analyst for a national mortgage lender. She was granted the opportunity, was handed a box and an office and worked with one of the premier national law firms to learn her craft. She eventually used that knowledge to assist her employer on how to be more efficient. She developed relationships with other departments such as Sales, Operations, Senior Management, and Human Resources to ensure smooth and efficient licensing processes. Here she handled state examinations, consumer complaints, branch locations, and more.
  • Compliance: Stephanie merged into the compliance world shortly after learning the licensing craft. In conjunction with state examinations, she created different templates to use for examination for speed and consistency in responding to same. Communication with internal departments was key for timely responses to the states and she developed a “State Examination Kick-Off Process” for internal management and department heads. This eventually also merged into State Specific requirements, such as disclosures, fees, etc., policies and procedures and more.
  • She considers herself as a mentor, teacher, and leader as do others.
  • In other news, she is a genuinely happy and positive person (Zumba anyone?) that cares about her clients and colleagues.
